September 9

back from labor day weekend and a few days off. we went camping over the long weekend. T made a special lobster dinner at the campground friday night for my birthday!! it was so fun, i sure am spoiled sometimes.

hate to make another post about the smoke but its getting crazy, the west coast is on fire. we thought antelope lake might be clear prior to the weekend but then two more fires, one above Susanville and one by Yosemite, blew in smoky skies. this seems to be the new norm for nevada/california/oregon/etc this time of year. i hope all of the people evacuating their homes and the firefighters stay safe through all this.

read that one of the fires was started by a gender reveal party. i’m not big on gender reveals anyway and putting off a firework in these conditions was not a good choice. with that said, can you imagine throwing a little party and starting a massive wildfire. those people must feel awful.

i had plans to go to yosemite (for the first time!!) next week, but does not seem like that is in the cards anymore. all campsites in california and the tahoe basin are currently closed and all campfires are banned. in tahoe, even propane stoves are banned at the moment. even if campsites and the park open up, it doesn’t like the right time to go. i’m going take it as a sign to look at going later in the fall. definitely not the first trip i’ve had canceled this year, ha!

it did get me thinking about other places i could go. traveling has been such a big part, it’s been a little hard for me to adjust to being home so much. i’ve built my life around travel in a lot of ways, for example it’s why work the job i do, why i love our little house, etc. so i’ve been questioning some things since being home 24/7. BUT i’m really not looking into lifestyle shifts as much as going somewhere! so where to next?
