We’ve officially been in DF for two weeks!

Over the weekend I saw a Lucha Libre show, which was everything I wanted it to be! It was campy, so entertaining and, honestly, pretty impressive. Think large men, doing acrobatics in tiny spandex. Plus beers the size of my head! What more can I say? Totally worth going at least once.

I also took a tour of the Merced Market, one of the largest markets in the world! La Merced is sprawling. There are cramped stalls and the maze-like aisles that stretch for blocks. It’s not unsafe but also probably not the best place for a gringo to venture alone. Taking a tour was a great idea, we stopped at the best food stalls and learned a little history.  I personally love the markets, so I really enjoyed it. We ate tacos topped with french fries, suadero, cow tongue, aqua fresca, mole, chapulines, and some delicious (and SPICY) salsa! I’ve definitely learned that if someone says something is hot, they mean it.

Hard to believe I am almost to another weekend! The work week has been crazy, but I am happy to report it is almost no different from being at work in Reno. For me at least. It is really great to be able to work in the office here, so I can have multiple monitors and connect to all of my drives and what not. I love my walk to work and navigating the new neighborhood and the new people, but the regular office stuff (e-mails, meeting, reports, boring) is basically the same.

I am still working on my Spanish. I use it less day to day than I thought I would. When people recognize my Spanish is bad, they’ll often respond in English or stop asking questions. Part of that is my fault, I’m hesitant to engage more because I get so embarrassed! I would have never described myself as shy, but I feel that way down here.  I am getting more comfortable with using it (and with looking like an idiot, haha) everyday though!

This weekend I am planning on exploring more of Roma and Condesa (by bike this time!), seeing Romeo and Juliet at Museo Tomayo, and, let’s be honest, eating!
